Created for Care

I went to Created for Care this weekend.

It was good.

I got to hang out with these ladies.
It was good for my soul.

An adult adoptee spoke at the conference.  It was probably the most impactful thing for me.  My friend Kerry and I discussed how raw her emotions were - even years and years after she was adopted.  And the thing she said that stuck out to me is that our children's stories are already hard.  Our job is not to make them better or easier or to keep them from them.  Their story has already happened!  Our job is to be honest.  And just to be with our children.  To walk through the hard with them and be supportive.

I came home feeling refreshed and determined to be intentional with my kiddos.  To tell them how important to me and loved they are.  Now, Ruthie is starting to say to me "You're 'portant to me mommy!  You're a good mommy, mommy!"

I'm thankful that I get to love them.

Rebecca, I've been reading your blog for awhile now. A friend of mine (which is a friend of yours, I think) told me about it, and I just love your honesty and of course your kiddos are just precious. We have one son from Ethiopia and are in the process of bringing another little one home again from Ethiopia. Here is the crazy thing...I took this photo at C4C for you all last weekend and had no idea that was you! So wished I had know and introduced myself! Just wanted you to know that your blog has been a great encouragement to me. Maybe we can actually meet next year:).
